Welcome to Gurbani Explorer, a free, volunteer-run seva project. By using the website or app ("the Service") you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. The Service
Gurbani Explorer provides tools to search, read, listen to, and ask questions about Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and related sacred texts, including AI-assisted chat and live audio shabad recognition. The Service is provided free of charge, “as is”, for personal, devotional, and educational use.
2. Respectful use
This Service handles sacred scripture. You agree to use it respectfully and lawfully, and not to:
- misuse, disrupt, overload, scrape in bulk, or attempt to break the Service or its security;
- use it to produce or distribute content that is unlawful, hateful, or that misrepresents Gurbani or Sikh teachings;
- imply that AI-generated answers are authoritative religious rulings (see Section 4).
3. Accuracy of content
We work in good faith to present Gurbani, translations, and transliterations accurately, but we cannot guarantee they are complete or error-free. Translations and interpretations are aids to understanding, not replacements for study with qualified teachers and the original Gurmukhi.
4. AI-generated answers
The chat and some other features use artificial intelligence to generate responses. AI answers can be incomplete, inaccurate, or mistaken, and are not religious rulings or authoritative interpretation. Always verify against the original Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and consult knowledgeable Granthis/scholars for religious guidance. (See the separate AI Disclaimer.)
5. Intellectual property
The underlying scripture is sacred and shared for the benefit of all. Our own software, design, and original written content are provided for your personal and devotional use. Please don’t copy the Service’s branding or code to imply endorsement or to create a competing commercial product without permission.
6. No warranty
The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the volunteers and operators of Gurbani Explorer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is offered free of charge as seva.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas for any disputes.
